The 2014 WTA Championships in Singapore will be played on Monday October 20 to Sunday October 26. The most prestigious tournament on the WTA calendar each year is the season-ending spectacular that only the best eight doubles teams and the best eight singles players in the world contest.
The Top 8 singles players and Top 8 doubles teams in the Race to Singapore have to qualify to participate by proving for that throughout the calendar year, they are the best of the elite players in the world. These players battle it out for the greatest WTA rankings honour of being crowned the year-end World No.1 at this event.
Singapore is the ninth city to host the WTA Championships since 1972 and will do so for a record five years (2014-2018). The venue for the event is the US$1 billion state-of-the-art Singapore Sports Hub with the Singapore Indoor Stadium the centre stage for matches. It is advised that you book a hotel in Singapore well in advance to attend this event.
