Qatar is one of only two ATP Tour tournaments in the Middle East each year and is played on Plexicushion hard courts. The Qatar Open is being held at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha, Qatar. The centre court is named the Khalifa Tennis Stadium and holds 6,911 spectators, the total prize money for 2013 is $1,054,720 and this tournament was first held in 1993.
Qatar runs from the first day of qualifying on Saturday 29 December through to the Men’s Singles Finals day on Sunday 6 January. The 2012 men’s singles champion was Jo-Wilfried TSONGA who defeated Gael MONFILS in the final 7-5, 6-3 to win 250 ATP ranking points.
