The 2012 Metz Open is one of 41 ATP Tour 250 category tournaments and one of five tournaments held in France each year. The official name of Metz due to title sponsorship naming rights is the Moselle Open.

The 2012 tournament is being held on indoor hard courts at the Metz Métropole Exhibition Park in “the Green City” – Metz in the Eastern region of France for the 10th straight year. The centre court seating capacity is 5,000 and this event was first held in 2003.

This tournament runs from Saturday 15 to Sunday 23 September. The qualifying singles event is held on Saturday to Monday 15 to 17 September. The main draw singles event runs from Monday 17 September through to the Men’s Singles Finals day on Sunday 23 September. 

The 2011 men’s singles champion was  No.1 seed Jo-Wilfried TSONGA who defeated No.4 seed Ivan LJUBICIC in the final 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 to win his sixth ATP singles title.
