The Hopman Cup is a round robin style tournament, which gives each player a guaranteed three singles matches even if they lose their first singles match, providing enough matchplay to prepare for the Australian Open. The official name of the Hopman Cup due to title sponsorship is the Hyundai Hopman Cup.

The Hopman Cup is part of the Australian Open Series played on the exact same court surface as the Australian Open - “True Blue” Plexicushion Prestige medium paced hard courts. The 25th edition of the Hopman Cup is being held right in the city centre for the first time at the new Perth Arena, 700 Wellington Drive in Perth, Western Australia. The Perth Arena holds 15,500 spectators, the total prize money for 2013 is AUD$ 1,000,000 and this tournament was first held in 1989.

Hopman Cup XXV runs from Saturday 29 December through to Mixed Teams Championship Final on Saturday 5 January. The 2012 champion was the Czech Republic represented by Petra KVITOVA and Tomas BERDYCH who defeated France represented by Marion BARTOLI and Richard GASQUET.
